How do I open a CSV file in Microsoft Excel without changing the column formatting? To open a comma-delimited (CSV) file properly, use Excels Data Import from Text feature to open the import wizard and set all columns as text.
It can also be done from the Format Cells dialog in the same way as in Excel for Windows: Select the cell(s) or part of a cell value you wish to cross out. Right-click the selection and chose Format Cells from the popup menu. In the Format Cells dialog box, switch to the Font tab and select the Strikethrough checkbox:
In the Data preview, scroll to the far right, then hold shift and click on the last column (this will select all columns). Now in the Column data format select the radio button Text, then click Finish.
Using the From Text feature in Excel Select the CSV file that has the data clustered into one column. Select Delimited, then make sure the File Origin is Unicode UTF-8. Select Comma (this is Affinitys default list separator). The preview will show the columns being separated.
On the Data tab, in the Get Transform Data group, click From Text/CSV. In the Import Data dialog box, locate and double-click the text file that you want to import, and click Import. In the preview dialog box, you have several options: Select Load if you want to load the data directly to a new worksheet.
Where is the font Strikethrough option? Click Open in Excel. Select the cells containing the data you want to format. Click the Format Cells box launcher. Tip: You can also press Ctrl+5. In the Format Cells box, under Effects, click Strikethrough. Save the workbook and reopen it in Excel for the web to see the changes.
Avoiding data corruption when editing CSV files We recommend that you open CSV files using Excels Text Import Wizard, and do not open a CSV file directly in Excel; e.g. by double-clicking the file or using File Open.
Microsoft supports strikethrough in Excel Online, as well as in Excel on Windows and macOS, but Excel on mobile devices requires the use of a third-party site to format text. If you work with sensitive information in Excel, you should avoid using a third-party site to format strikethrough text.
