Unlimited cloud storage is no longer an industry standard, as the model is unsustainable for companies. As such, Google decided in 2021 to remove unlimited storage, including for Google Workspace for Education domains, a change for all educational institutions using this plan.
In a word, it once offered users unlimited storage space for compressed photos before June 1, 2021. But now, it only offers limited storage space. And if you want to sign up for a new Google account to expand another 15GB of free storage, you might encounter the transfer issue.
Each Google Account includes 15 GB of storage, which is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos. To add to your storage quota, you can purchase a Google One membership, where available. Occasionally, you may receive more storage from a special promotion or related purchase.

Google has announced the end of unlimited storage for Google Workspace. Effective July 1st, 2024, UCIs unlimited storage will end.
As of June 1, Google has ended its unlimited free storage policy for Google Photos. Google Photos ended its unlimited free storage policy for photos and videos as of June 1.
Accounts storing more than 150 GB will need to reduce their content below 150 GB by Jan. 23, 2024. If you need to reduce your Google content you were sent an email with more information and action steps. If your account holds more than 35 GB of content, you will receive an extended 150 GB limit on July 5, 2023.
