QID and Q6H are abbreviations used by medical professionals to indicate how many times a day you should take a medication and at what intervals. QID means a dose should be taken four times daily, while Q6H means that dose should be taken every six hours.
You may be surprised to learn that 3 times a day and 4 times a day are not standardized terms nor do they correspond to specific time intervals in hours.
Take every 8 hours generally means the medicine should be taken 3 times a day.

Take every 8 hours generally means the medicine should be taken 3 times a day.
A medicine written 4 times daily should roughly be taken 4 or 5 hours apart while you are awake assuming you wake up at 7 am and go to bed at 10 pm, for example: 7 am (when you wake up) 12 noon (midday) 4 pm (late afternoon)
When the medicine label on the medicine says to take three times day it generally means take every 8 hours.
Take every 6 hours means that the medication should be taken in four doses over a 24-hour period. This means every 6 hours you take a dose. If the medication can be taken with food, an easy way to remember is to take it at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and before bed.
