The 1080p will display a clearer and more detailed image but will have a higher battery drain while the 720p will display a less detailed image but reduces battery drain.
1920 x 1080 (Full HD) Full High Definition (FHD) is 1080p resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels, in a 16:9 aspect ratio. By default, smartphones, DSLRs, and most modern camcorders record video at 1920 x 1080.
If the source is 1080p and monitor or TV is 720p, the monitor or TV will downscale the image to 720p so it can be displayed on the screen. You have to remember that 720p and 1080p refer to the number of pixels, if a monitor or TV only has 720p pixels, it cant display more than that on the screen.
High definition has good video quality. It has a pixel height of 1080 or 720p. SD or standard definition is lower quality. It has a pixel height of 480p.
Picture Quality For many, there will be little to no noticeable difference between 1080p known as Full HD and 720p known as HD. However, those who pay more attention will definitely notice that 1080p results in a smoother, clearer image, and that 1080p is clearer than 1080i.
It is not always possible to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p resolution. For the human eye to discern the difference, you would need to be sitting closer to the screen to notice the details with the higher number of pixels.
In the case of a monitor with an industry-standard Full HD 1080p resolution, this display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. This means that the screen will have a width of 1,920 pixels while the height of the screen will be 1,080 pixels. This results in a grand total of 2,073,600 pixels on-screen.
The smallest resolution Windows supports is 640x480 pixels (meaning 640 dots horizontally by 480 vertically). Better video cards and monitors are capable of much higher resolutions. The standard resolution used today is 1024x768.
Basically the 2K screens are useful for VR(virtual reality). Most users wont use it so 1080p is a better choice for smartphones as it will lead to better battery life but companies want to boast higher specs, that is why many flagships have 2K display. So the 1080p display of OP3 is fine wont feel pixelated.
1920x1080 FHD (Full HD) / 1080p. 2560x1440 QHD/WQHD (Quad HD) / 1440p.
