Single-line Truncate Single lines you need to set the text-overflow property value to ellipsis. If your elements wrapping div does not have an explicit height you also need to add white-space: nowrap; ,which you are best to use in most use cases anyhow.
Use the default line break rule. To prevent overflow, word breaks should be inserted between any two characters (excluding Chinese/Japanese/Korean text). Word breaks should not be used for Chinese/Japanese/Korean (CJK) text. Non-CJK text behavior is the same as for normal .
The overflow-wrap property in CSS allows you to specify that the browser can break a line of text inside the targeted element onto multiple lines in an otherwise unbreakable place.
By using text-indent: -999px; or a similar method, the text is still there just not visually there. Use display:none , and the text is gone.
Tip: There are three ways to copy an element/the content of an element: Press CTRL + C. Select Copy from the Edit menu in your browser. Right click to display the context menu and select the Copy command.
text-overflow: ellipsis; white-space: nowrap; overflow: hidden; in CSS (or hard-code the style, but CSS is cleaner). If you want to completely cut the text off, use clip instead of ellipsis . Or better, see MDN since w3schools often has outright incorrect information.
To mark strikethrough text in HTML, use the tag. It renders a strikethrough text. HTML deprecated this tag and it shouldnt be used in HTML5.
