Here at the Meetology Lab our passion is the psychology of exceptional social skills - face-to-face interaction - so, unusually this week, Im going to actually focus on texting. Theres one thing that you can add to a text message which has been shown to totally change, potentially negatively, the way it is interpreted. My name is Jonathan Bradshaw and welcome to this weeks Meetology Minute. An unusual insight this week because its based on text messaging, but it made us laugh here and one that if you have this situation too. It comes from research undertaken from the U.S. or in the U.S. by researchers at the University of Binghampton in New York State and it looked into whether people did or didnt add a full-stop (I think Americans call it a period) at the end of a text message. Think about when youve sent messages and how theyre perceived or perhaps how you perceive text messages when they have or havent got a full stop at the end. Because, ing to this research from the U.S.,

A text slide is exactly what it sounds likea slide that is intended to feature text-heavy content. There are times when your presentation doesnt require many visuals or images.
To save the venture capital community from death-by-PowerPoint, he evangelized the 10/20/30 rule for presentations which states that a presentation should have ten slides, last no more than twenty minutes, and contain no font smaller than thirty points.
The following are a few rules to live by when creating your next presentation: Punctuation has no place on a PowerPoint slide.
Follow the 5/5/5 rule To keep your audience from feeling overwhelmed, you should keep the text on each slide short and to the point. Some experts suggest using the 5/5/5 rule: no more than five words per line of text, five lines of text per slide, or five text-heavy slides in a row.
Use a period after every bullet point that is a sentence. This means to add a full stop after every bullet point. Use no punctuation after bullets that are not sentences. This includes bullet points like the image above where only single words are displayed on each line.
Keep text to a minimum (6-8 lines per slide, no more than 30 words per slide). The bullet points should be headlines, not news articles. Write in sentence fragments using key words, and keep your font size 24 or bigger.
Try it! Select the slide that you want to change the layout for. Select Home Layout. Select the layout that you want. The layouts contain placeholders for text, videos, pictures, charts, shapes, clip art, a background, and more.
On the Home tab, under Insert, click Text. On the pop-up menu, click Text Box. On the slide, click the location where you want to add the text box. Type or paste your text in the text box.
