On the View tab, click Slide Master. In Slide Master View, the slide master appears at the top of the thumbnail pane with related layouts beneath it. Click to select the master slide, then click Master Layout on the Slide Master tab.

Solution: If you can't directly edit footer text, it's probably the case that the footer placeholder has been turned off in Slide Master view. To change that situation, you can open Slide Master view and make changes there, as described below. On the View tab, select Slide Master.
You can select all slides by first clicking on a slide in the Slide Pane, then Ctrl+A. It seems that a modifed layout in the master slide only takes effect when a layout is applied, so you have to select all the slides and change their layout to get the master layout to take effect on all slides.

Recheck the Slide Master to make sure there is a footer placeholder on it. If it's missing, click on Slide Master>Footers to make it reappear. Check each Slide Layout to make sure each one has a footer placeholder. For any Layout missing the Footer, click on Slide Master>Footers even if it's already checked.

Show footer information on your slides Click INSERT > Header & Footer. On the Slide tab, check Footer. In the box below Footer, type the text that you want, such as the presentation title. Check Date and time to add that to your slides.
In the top action bar the Master Layout icon will be active, click on it and in the appearing window check all the options. Then select the master layouts where you want the footer/header to appear and check the slide footer and header options that appear in the top action bar.
