How to size header paper

last weekend i tried sizing my handmade papers sizing is all about making paper quality long lasting and water resistant you can think of sizing as a glue that makes each sheet stronger to test sizing i applied ink to each sheet and rubbed vigorously first up is my external sizing test external sizing is when the size or glue is applied after sheets are formed and dried then i tried internal sizing where the size is added straight to the pulp fat as sheets are formed you can see a difference between these two methods the ink is more vibrant and theres no streaking on this sheet the process of internal sizing also involves less steps so this method definitely seems like the better option as a comparison heres an example of what no sizing looks like after ink has been applied the ink is clearly smeared and whats worse is that the paper is flaking off due to the ink coverage this definitely isnt ideal and really reinforces the importance of size and handmade paper making

The paper your letterhead is printed on should be standard business size paper, typically 8.5 by 11 inches, printed on 24 pound stock that is a shade of cream or white. Brilliant white will make just about any logo stand out.
Letterhead Margins When setting up your document for printing on letterhead, the left margin should be set at 0.75 inch, while the right margin should be set at 2.5 inches. Set the top margin at 1.25 inches, and the bottom of the letter should not go lower than 0.5 inch.
The B paper sizes are a bit larger than their A series counterparts and are based on the geometric mean of two consecutive A series sheets. For example, B4 is between A3 and A4 in size, and B5 is between A4 and A5. The C series was introduced to provide an envelope with enough space for an A series sheet.
The most common of these sheet sizes is the international letterhead size A4, which measures 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 in, or 210 x 297 mm. These paper measurements are defined by the ISO 216 standard.
