[0:00] In this weeks episode I make a form tool and talk a little about hardening steel in the home shop. [0:19] I have a project coming up that I would like to use an OD radius cutter on. Normally Id just file the radius in the lathe and cut-out a little paper gauge, but Im making a number of these and Id like to make sure the radii are matching. Ill also be machining aluminum, so making a radius cutter isnt a big deal. O1 (or oil hardening tool steel) or W1 is the material I chosen as a compromise on machining, hardenability in the home shop, and durability. Specifically in this case Im using O1.
