Tables and figures are each numbered separately, in the order they are referred to in your text. For example, the first table you refer to is Table 1; the fourth figure you refer to is Figure 4. The title should clearly and straightforwardly describe the content of the table or figure. Omit articles to keep it concise.
Right-click on the first figure or table in your document. 2. Select Insert Caption from the pop-up menu. Alternative: Select the figure or table and then select Insert Caption from the References tab in the ribbon.
All graphs, diagrams and images should be titled as Figures. These will be numbered consecutively throughout the dissertation: Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and so on. After the numbering, there should be a short and concise title. Titles for figures appear below the figure itself.

Select all or part of the table title or figure caption text that you want to change. Use the options in the Font and Paragraph groups to select new style options, just as you would regular body text.
