Before we start working with the dotwork practice, I created this excercise template, which you can download for free (link in description). Lets start with the basics. The first thing to mention is the size of the dots. Aim is to achieve dots as constant in size as possible. Try to press with the same pressure for every dot to get dots that are the same size and a nice looking result. The distance of the dots is the second topic. I draw a black rectangle to demonstrate a dark area. We also have midtones and highlights. We have to place the dots on top of each other to get a dark feel to them. To get midtones, the dots only have to touch each other. Youll get some bright areas between the dots. If you want to create a bright tone you have to have space between every dot.
