Special characters (é, è, ç, etc) in downloaded CSV files On a Windows computer, open the CSV file using Notepad. Click "File > Save As". In the dialog window that appears - select "ANSI" from the "Encoding" field. Then click "Save". Open this new CSV file using Excel.
In North America and some other countries, the default list separator is a comma, so you get CSV comma delimited. In European countries, a comma is reserved for the decimal symbol, and the list separator is generally set to semicolon. That is why the result is CSV semicolon delimited.
So if you're working with CSV, what special characters are actually supported? Technically, all of them! There are no specified limits of what characters can be used in a CSV file.
Using the "From Text" feature in Excel Click the Data tab, then From Text. Select the CSV file that has the data clustered into one column. Select Delimited, then make sure the File Origin is Unicode UTF-8. Select Comma (this is Affinity's default list separator).

You can use 'custom filter' option available in filter option to find text with special characters. You just need to place ~ before the special character you want to filter.
Displaying Special Characters in . CSV Files Exported From Employee Email In Excel, navigate to Data > Import External Data > Import Data/Import From Text and choose 65001 Unicode (UTF-8). Save your settings then re-open your file to confirm that special characters are displayed correctly.
By default, the escape character is a " (double quote) for CSV-formatted files. If you want to use a different escape character, use the ESCAPE clause of COPY , CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE or gpload to declare a different escape character.
