hi my name is Brian and this is can tip files be compressed a TIF file is an image file similar to a JPEG or a gif but TIFF files are very high quality image files theyre even bigger than JPEGs which are generally pretty big so when you compress a TIFF file you want to make sure that you dont lose any of the quality because if its a tiff file and its big its probably big for a reason because you need a high resolution the good news is if you compress a TIFF file using zip or lzw those are lossless compression methods so you can zip and unzip a TIFF file as many times as you want without degrading the quality so I have three TIFF files open here and Im just going to highlight these three and then go to compress three items and now theyre in a zip file and I can open and close this as many times as I want without losing any quality but because it zipped the size of the files are much smaller you

Baseline TIFF image types are: bilevel, grayscale, palette-color, and RGB full-color images.
The current limitation of a TIFF image file is that it uses 32-bit offset architecture, which means it is limited to a maximum of 4 GB file size.
Image formats that store a full 24 bits to describe the color of each and every pixel are therefore known as 24-bit color images. Using 24 bits to encode color information allows. different colors to be represented, and this is sufficient to cover the full range of human color perception fairly well.
TIFF files store much more image data than their JPEG counterparts. This makes them a favorite with photographers due to their stunning image quality. However, the higher resolution requires much larger file sizes — meaning they can be awkward to use and more difficult to store.
TIFF files are larger, but will not lose any quality or clarity when edited and saved repeatedly. JPEGs, on the other hand, will lose a small amount of quality and clarity each time they are saved.
You can load a 16 bit TIFF and enjoy the benefits of finer color resolution, which will prevent banding and posterization when the curves are adjusted in an image. If you don't adjust the curves (or do some other editing action that stretches part of the gamut), you'll never be able to see the benefit of 16 bit color.
What is the difference between TIFF and PNG files? Both PNGs and TIFFs are excellent choices for displaying complex images. But PNGs tend to be smaller in size, so are potentially better suited for websites. TIFFs, on the other hand, are often the best choice for professional use, scanning, and print options.
Palette and gray-scale images are limited to 256 colors or shades. A common extension of TIFF also allows for CMYK images. TIFF files may or may not be compressed.
Even with a lossy compression option, a TIFF file is still likely to be larger than a PNG. TIFFs support high-resolution, multi-page design and transparency. This means they store a lot of information. PNGs can be easier to manage between programs because they're smaller files.
Baseline TIFF image types are: bilevel, grayscale, palette-color, and RGB full-color images.
