hi everyone my names gene im an illustrator and a graphic designer ive been working in the industry for about 15 years and today were going to take a look at some typography this is a few techniques on how to shade letters so theres a couple different things i want to talk about lets get started all right so we have a couple of letters quickly drawn here and im going to show you two techniques to kind of make these letters pop a little bit now the first one obviously is we could just outline the letter in a darker color and so in this case i just took a black marker and im just going to run right along the outline of this letter and give it what we call a stroke and its not going to have a heart attack or anything thats just what its called in photoshop and illustrator and pretty much any other program that youre ever going to use um if you get on to your computer and youre doing typography the old-fashioned way which is digitally so its just a quick little stroke stroke
