this short video is going to show you how to set up tabs on your brief for your table of contents in your table of authorities using Word 2010 the same steps will also apply for Word 2007 here I have a brief which already contains my table of contents and table of authorities but its not formatted to set up my tabs for the two tables Im gonna highlight the content expand my paragraph group and click on tabs this brief has one-inch margins so I want my tab stop position to be set at 6.5 with an alignment of right and a leader of two and then I must click set so that it appears in the box below or the settings will not keep click OK and unhighlight the text and in the ruler at the top youll see the caret symbol which shows the 6.5 stop position that I just created if you dont see this ruler on the top right theres a view ruler button just toggle that on and off until you can see it now I just need to go to my table of contents and hit tab and it will move right over to the position
