gday there groovers and this video here just wanted to talk a little about file compression and file size and different formats to use but really specifically just wanted to talk about photo the photoshop format the dot psd file or tiff files and in the past id previously saved all my images using the dot psd extension and i dont do that anymore i stick just with tiff file now and theres a couple of good reasons for that one is file size and it just completely reduces the amount of size thats required on your hard drives and when youre working with a lot of images and using lots of layers and stuff like that if you can save half the file size so if youre working on a 100 meg image which would which it would be as a dot psd file and you can get that down to 50 meg or 55 meg its better my way of thinking is its better to have that 50 meg free on your hard drive and youre not sacrificing any of the quality either so i did a couple of tests just to show you exactly what im talk

A TIFF, which stands for Tag Image File Format, is a computer file used to store raster graphics and image information. A favorite among photographers, TIFFs are a handy way to store high-quality images before editing if you want to avoid lossy file formats.
Is TIFF better than RAW? There isn't one type of file that's better than the other – they simply have different uses. If you're going to do heavy editing, it's better to shoot in RAW. But if you're going to be sharing the file, then it's a good idea to convert it to a TIFF.
TIFF is uncompressed. Since TIFF does not use any compression algorithms like JPEG or GIF formats, the file contains more data and results in a more detailed picture.
A TIFF is an image file — so it stores photographic and graphical data. You won't be able to edit the original file information without editing software, like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
Which file is best for photography — JPEG or TIFF? A TIFF will enable you to store richer, more detailed images. It's good practice to save your original (or source) photos as TIFF files. JPEGs, meanwhile, might be a better choice for exporting your finished edits because they're easier to share and print.
JPEGs offer you the most flexibility with raster editing and compression making them ideal for web images that need to be downloaded quickly. You want to print photos and/or artwork. At high resolution files with low compression, JPEGs are perfect for editing and then printing.
The main advantage of shooting in RAW is that you end up with high-quality files to edit into the best possible image. Capturing and storing all the details that pass through your camera's sensors means RAW files contain a wider dynamic range and far greater color spectrum than JPEGs.
Word has useful image-editing tools you can view by right-clicking your TIF and selecting "Format Picture" to open the Format Picture window. This window contains multiple buttons you can click to change the image's appearance.
A raw file is high-bit (usually 12 or 14 bits of information) but a camera-generated TIFF file will be automatically converted by the camera (compressed, downsampled) to 8 bits. The raw file has no embedded color balance or color space, but the TIFF has both.
Acrobat Pro 1. Open PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro. 2. Select File > Export To > Image > TIFF.
