Right-click the shape that you want to add a pattern fill to and select Format Shape. In the Format Shape dialog box, click the Fill tab. In the Fill pane, select Pattern fill and then select a pattern, foreground color, and background color for your pattern fill.
What is a DOTX file? Files with DOTX extension are template files created by Microsoft Word to have pre-formatted settings for generation of further DOCX files. A template file is created in order to have specific user settings that should be applied to subsequent flies created from these.
You can customize an existing template to make it even more useful. Add static information to the existing template, and then save the file again (as a template). On the File menu, click New from Template. Click a template that is similar to the one you want to create, and then click Create.
docx file type is for a standard Word document which contains no macros. The . dotx file type is used for templates from which new documents are generated. It cannot contain macros, either.
Launch Microsoft Word and open the template to edit by clicking the Open option on the File tab. To find templates more quickly, click the All Files drop-down menu and select All Word Templates, then double-click the template to edit.
Change the default layout Open the template or a document based on the template whose default settings you want to change. On the Format menu, click Document, and then click the Layout tab. Make any changes that you want, and then click Default.
In Microsoft Word, you can create a template by saving a document as a . dotx file, .Add content controls to a template Click File Options Customize Ribbon. Under Customize the Ribbon, select Main Tabs. In the list, select the Developer check box, and then click OK.
Click the File tab, and then click New. Under Available templates, click New from existing. Click a template or a document that is similar to the one that you want to create, and then click Create New. Make the changes you want to the margin settings, page size and orientation, styles, and other formats.
There are two methods for setting the default template: using the toolbar and using templates management. In the current screen, verify the template you want to set as the default is selected in the Templates drop-down menu. Click Default Template.
