Todays video addresses a common question I get which is, how can I highlight or select a column that includes blank cells? How can I do that with a shortcut key? Now, you probably know the shortcut key to highlight a column of data, right? Whats that? Control + shift + down. But that doesnt work if you have blanks in the middle. So if we take a look at this dataset, and Im sitting in cell B1, what happens if I do control, shift, down? It highlights B1 to B3. It stops the moment it comes across that blank cell. Now, if I still hold down control, shift and press the down arrow key, it jumps to the next line where I have data cause it just continues the pattern of blank cells, in this case, its one, and it jumps to the next row of data. Now, if I continue doing that, I can end up highlighting this column but it can be quite time consuming, especially if I have a lot of blank cells and a lot of data. Heres the good news, though: I have a shortcut key for you that gets this done. No
