hello my name is prabhanjan anand from uc santa barbara and im going to talk about secure software leasing this is a joint work with rolando laplaca so the no cloning theorem of quantum mechanics states that there does not exist a universal cloner that given an input a quantum state and it outputs two copies of the same quantum state in other words it says that if i give you an arbitrary quantum state you will not be able to copy this quantum state while no cloning theorem might come across as a limitation of quantum mechanics the principle of no cloning is the basis for many interesting cryptographic primitives let us look at some examples in 1983 weissner came up with this brilliant idea of associating money with quantum states in such a way that an adversary will not be able to produce many copies of this money state this principle has also been studied in the context of encryption schemes you know you can associate ciphertext with quantum states in such a way that this you know y

The following are the only allowable reasons for security deposit deductions, as per Pennsylvania security deposit law: Unpaid rent. Lease violation by a tenant. Cost of damage exceeding normal wear and tear.
In Wisconsin, a landlord is allowed to charge a cleaning fee if the tenant agrees to it in the rental agreement or if the cleaning is required to return the unit to its initial condition past expected wear and tear.
The good news is that the burden of proof is on the landlord, not the tenant. If a landlord wants to deduct money from a deposit, they must provide proof that it is a legitimate cost - for example by supplying pictures of the damage and receipts for the work involved - and also prove that the cost is reasonable.
Returning security deposits If the deductions are for more than $125.00, the landlord must attach a copy of any invoices or receipts with the itemized statement. If the landlord or their employee did the work themselves, they must include a description of the work, how long it took, and the hourly rate they charged.
A landlord must return a damage deposit (which can only be the equivalent of up to one months rent) within seven business days. If a landlord claims part or all of the deposit to cover damage costs or repairs, they must provide the tenant with written notice of this within the same seven-day timeframe.
As per the rule of thumb, the landlord must return the full security deposit as long as tenants vacate the premises in a satisfactory condition as per the contract.
On the expiry or termination of a lease, the tenant is entitled to a refund of the deposit initially paid. The deposit and interest accrued must be refunded to the tenant within seven days of the expiration of the lease agreement.
It can be used to cover any losses caused by the tenant, such as damages to the place or unpaid rent. Many people call it a damage deposit. Landlords can only ask for a security deposit at the beginning of the tenancy. They cannot decide to ask for one later.
At the end of your tenancy Your landlord must return your deposit within 10 days of you both agreeing how much youll get back. If youre in a dispute with your landlord, then your deposit will be protected in the TDP scheme until the issue is sorted out.
A landlord may use the security deposit as a reimbursement for any unpaid rent, or the reasonable cost of repairs beyond normal wear and tear, if the tenant damages the apartment.
