On a Mac, the built-in file explorer is known as Finder. You can use Finder to navigate to the Pictures folder to find your scanned documents.
One of the main reasons why PDFs are not searchable is that they dont include any text. The PDF may be a scanned document or just an image-based document. If thats the case, then there is no searchable text. You can read the text within the image-based document, but the PDF tool cannot.
Preview can recognize text in an image-based PDF (like a scan or a picture of a document) and embed the text in the document. In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF. Choose File Export. Select Embed Text.
How to search a PDF on a Mac Press CMD + F. In the text box that appears, search your selected term or phrase. Click the arrows to navigate the highlighted results.
Make a PDF searchable with docHub. Open docHub on your computer. Click Open. Find and select the document you want to make searchable, then click Open. Head to Tools and select Recognize Text. Press PDF Output Style Searchable Image. Select OK.

Yes, it is possible to search through a scanned PDF using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. OCR is a process that converts scanned images or PDF files into searchable and editable text.

Then, you can enter the word or text you want to locate in the Find dialog box, which will allow you to select Next or Previous to move through the search results.
