To fix Microsoft Edge not opening PDF files, open Edge, click on the three dots, go to Settings, select Cookies and site permissions, find PDF documents, ensure "Always download PDF files" is off and "PDF view settings" is on. If the issue persists, search for default apps, search for .pdf, select Microsoft Edge as the default PDF opening app.

Why cant I search a PDF document?

One of the main reasons why PDFs are not searchable is that they dont include any text. The PDF may be a scanned document or just an image-based document. If thats the case, then there is no searchable text. You can read the text within the image-based document, but the PDF tool cannot.
