So a common problem people run into from time to time is when they quickly create a new document in an app, save the file, and then exit that app and then they cant remember where they saved that file. After all youre not always paying attention to the exact folder that youre in when youre doing the Save command. But its pretty easy to find a file that you just created or even one that you created a little while ago. So for instance here I am in Pages and say I have a great idea for a story. I create a new document. I quickly write the story and then I decide to Save. I just do a quick Command

Select File in the upper toolbar, and then move your cursor down until it hovers over Save. Click Save or press Cmd + S to save the file as a . txt.
As per your description, generally, we go to WordPreferencesSave to clear the check box marked Turn on AutoSave by default. The next time you save a file Click the On My Mac buttons on the Save dialog and place it locally. From then on, Word for the Mac should remember your last save location as being local.
In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF or image. Choose File Save. To save a file using a different filename, press and hold the Option key, choose File Save As, then enter a name. Choose where you want to save the file, select a file format, then click Save.
Save to a different location on your computer On the File menu, click Save as, or press + Shift + S. If the dialog box does not show a folder or folders on your computer, click On My Mac. Navigate to the folder on your computer where you want to save the file.
Remove OneDrive from open/save options. Go to File - Account - Account Privacy: Manage Settings - Turn off the Connected Experiences. Then click OK. This also changed the same settings in Word. Change the default save folder.

You can save a document at any time. Save a document: In a document, choose File Save, enter a name, choose where to save the document (to show more locations, click the down arrow button ), then click Save.
