How to Use the Snipping Tool on a Mac Press Command + Shift + 5 to bring up the Screenshot app. Choose one of the three buttons on the right of the panel. From left to right, they allow you to capture the entire screen, a window, or a portion of the screen. Click Capture or press Return.
Portion of the screen: To capture a portion of the screen, press Command-Shift-4. A cross-hair cursor will appear and you can click and drag to select the area you wish to capture. To copy a portion of the screen to the clipboard, press Command-Control-Shift-4.
