if you search the internet for how to password protect a folder on Mac nearly every answer describes using Disk Utility to create a disk image of the folder which you then have to mount and unmount each time you wish to view the contents unfortunately Apple doesnt offer a nice built-in method for password protecting files and folders its not like theres an option to right click on a folder and choose password protect and there is a good reason why Apple doesnt offer this seemingly easy feature and Ill explain why a little bit later but rather than having to use Disk Utility which can be a little bit cumbersome there is an excellent little free tool which basically does the same thing called in crypto to start using in crypto download it from the App Store open it and accept the ts and Cs there are a few screens explaining what the app can do and you can choose if you want to subscribe to the mailing list then its just a matter of dragging and dropping your file or folder onto t
