Use S/MIME to send and receive encrypted messages in the Mail app in iOS Open the Settings app. Choose Mail Accounts. Select the account that has messages that you want to encrypt by default. Choose Account Advanced Encrypt by Default, then turn on Encrypt by Default.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can protect the contents of your device using encryption . That means that if someone gets physical access to your device, they will also need your passcode to decrypt whats stored on it, including contacts, instant messages or texts, call logs, and email.
Your backup isnt encrypted by default. To encrypt a backup in the Finder, the Apple Devices app, or iTunes for the first time, turn on the password-protected Encrypt local backup option. Backups for your device will automatically be encrypted from then on.
iOS and iPadOS devices use a file encryption methodology called Data Protection, whereas the data on an Intel-based Mac is protected with a volume encryption technology called FileVault.
Require a password to open a document , tap Document Options, then tap Set Password. Enter the requested information, then tap Done.
To check if your iPhone data is encrypted, go to Settings Touch ID Passcode (or Face ID Passcode) scroll down to the bottom and look for Data protection is enabled. If it is enabled, then your iPhone data is encrypted.
On iPhone or iPad Open the Settings app. Tap your name, then tap iCloud. Scroll down, tap Advanced Data Protection, then tap Turn on Advanced Data Protection. Follow the onscreen instructions to review your recovery methods and enable Advanced Data Protection.
Encryption is enabled individually on an iPhone when you set up a passcode or Touch/Face ID to unlock the device. You can confirm that this is enabled in Settings Face ID Passcode, where you should see the phrase Data protection is enabled at the bottom of the page.
