In the PDF documents section, under Default behavior, you may choose between Download PDFs to have them sent to your Downloads folder or Open PDFs in Opera to have them open in a new tab.

Why does Firefox/Google Chrome automatically open PDFs in my browser? Both Firefox and Google Chrome have built-in PDF viewers. In their default state, both will attempt to open any PDF documents directly in the browser for viewing purposes.
Click the Chrome browsers controls button three stacked dots in the top-right corner. Select the Print function. Use the dropdown selector to the right of the Destination field. Choose and click Save as PDF.
