To create a new file: From Google Drive, locate and select the New button, then choose the type of file you want to create. In our example, well select Google Docs to create a new document. Your new file will appear in a new tab on your browser. The Rename dialog box will appear. Your file will be renamed.
How to open files on a Chromebook Open the Files app. In the left navigation panel, choose the drive containing the file. Find the file in its folder, then double-click to open it. If youre rocking one of the best touchscreen Chromebooks, tap to open files and folders like on Android.
In the bottom corner of your Chromebooks screen, select the Launcher icon and then the Up arrow. Open Files. This icon might also be pinned to your dashboard menu at the bottom of your screen. On the left sidebar, under My Files, select Downloads.
On your Chromebook, you can open, edit, download, and save Microsoft 365 files, such as Word, PowerPoint, or Excel files.
Free up storage space Delete files you dont need from your Chromebook. Remember that you can move files to Google Drive if you want more space. Clear your browsing data and download history. Uninstall apps youre not using. Remove any extra user accounts from your Chromebook.
To download and save files to a Chromebook, right click on the downloadable link and click on Save Link As to save the file. Save it as an RTF file or Rich Text Format file. Go to Google Drive in the browser and click on the New button.
Press Ctrl + s. At the bottom, enter a name for your file. Optional: To the left of the file name, change the file type. In the left column, choose where youd like to save your file, such as Google Drive.
