Make a mixture of water and white vinegar in a ratio of 3:1. Mix it in a bowl large enough to submerge the stain on the paper. Soak the stained paper in the vinegar solution for a few seconds. Remove the paper, and allow it to dry on a clean towel.
To remove grease stains from a paper surface, mix equal parts water and vinegar, then take a cotton ball or swab and dab into the mixture, says Stapf. Apply weight on the area for about 10 minutes to fully absorb the vinegar. You may need to repeat this step a few times if its an old stain that wont budge.
Here are some tips for cleaning paperback books: Stains: Put a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a cloth and rub away the stains. Use a clean white cloth to prevent dirt and color from transferring onto the cover. Repeat the process on heavily stained areas.
Place the paper between 2 sheets of clean white paper, warm up an iron on low heat, and place it on top of the paper for 5 seconds. Remove the iron after 5 seconds and check the oil stain, it will be lighter or possibly completely gone. Repeat the process as needed to continue to lift the stain.
Residual oil and grease may be at least partially removed with paper towel and a warm iron. Some stains can often be improved with a kneaded rubber eraser or Absorene Paper and Book Cleaner. Knead a small amount of Absorene in your hand until it is soft and rub it lightly in one direction over the soiled surface.
Its tempting to rub a stain vigorously, but that can cause two problems. First, you could cause the stain to spread. Second, you can cause undue strain to the fabric, damaging it. Instead of rubbing, remember to blot gently and repeatedly.
How to Remove Water-Based Stains From Books. Dampen the stained area with a few drops of water. Use a damp microfiber cloth with a drop of dish soap to scrub the stained area gently. Wipe off the soapy residue and extra moisture with a clean, damp cloth.
