you have a single page site with a navigation with some anchor links so it will bring you to the different sections of that site of course theres a few problems here when we go over the different sections its scrolling down too far and of course its just jumping to each section in the CSS we can fix the scrolling Behavior with a scroll Behavior smooth this will give us a nice scrolling between the different sections but of course it is still scrolling too far however we can fix this with scroll padding now when we scroll between the different sections it uses that to set some padding for how far its going to scroll down this number is a little bit magic numbery though so we could use JavaScript as a little bit of a progressive enhancement here the easiest way to do this is to first set scroll padding using a custom property and in this case Im also giving it a 5 Ram fallback next in our JavaScript we can use a simple query selector to get our navigation then we can get the height
