hi Im Ted today Im going to show you how to edit a formula in Excel I have a spreadsheet setup here and its just a Majestys and each one had a certain pay rate in year one and the the next column column see shows the number of weeks they worked in in year one and over on the right here we have the total pay and the total pay if you if you look it says if you look in the formula bar up here on the where my cursor is on the top left its B 2 times C 2 so the pay for year 1 is the pay rate in dollars per week times the number of weeks worked in endear 1 and so the first employee 400 hours times 35 weeks is $14,000 and then the same formula is just copied down to all the other cells now lets say we we have now we have the new year and we have a new pay rate so lets just say everybody got a you know a raise of $50 a week so Im not not very generous so we just we were just going to add a formula here each one is $50 higher and just to make it easy lets just say lets just say everybo

Fill formulas into adjacent cells Select the cell with the formula and the adjacent cells you want to fill. Click Home Fill, and choose either Down, Right, Up, or Left. Copy or move a single formula without changing cell references Select the cell with the formula you want to copy. Select the formula in the formula bar using the mouse, and press Ctrl + C to copy it. Press the Esc key to exit the formula bar. Select the destination cell and press Ctl + V to paste the formula there.
If you want to maintain the original cell reference when you copy it, you lock it by putting a dollar sign ($) before the cell and column references. For example, when you copy the formula =$A$2+$B$2 from C2 to D2, the formula stays exactly the same. This is an absolute reference.
Heres how you copy and paste a formula: Select the cell with the formula you want to copy. Press. + C. Click the cell where you want to paste the formula. To quickly paste the formula with its formatting, press. Clicking the arrow gives you a list of options.
When you have a cell selected, pressing the F2 key puts the cell in Edit mode. If the cell contains a formula, you will see the formula in the cell and be able to edit it. This is the same as double-clicking the cell with the mouse. Sometimes you might want to select a cell/range with arrow keys to change a reference.
Converting formulas to values using Excel shortcuts Just follow the simple steps below: Select all the cells with formulas that you want to convert. Press Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Ins to copy formulas and their results to clipboard. Press Shift + F10 and then V to paste only values back to Excel cells.
