Go to the Developer tab and then Design Mode, and you can then insert the controls that you want. It could be a text control where users will be able to enter texts, insert a combo or drop-down list, a date picker, or a checkbox.
You might be unable to edit a document because the original author set it to read-only mode. This situation requires you to disable the read-only mode, which you can accomplish by following these steps: Right-click on the Word document you want to edit. Select the Properties option from the menu that appears.
To edit a DOTX file, directly launch the word processor you use, click File in the toolbar, select Open to choose the template file and open it, make your changes, and then tap Save. You will successfully modify the DOTX file.
Enable editing in your document Go to File Info. Select Protect document. Select Enable Editing.
To make changes to a document, in the upper-right corner, select Edit Document Edit. If someone else created the document, they might not allow editing. You can go to File Save as, save it with another name, and edit the new document.
Click the Save As type drop-down list, and then select Word Template (*. DOTX) as the file type. Enable the Save Thumbnail option, then click the Save button. If Microsoft Word displays a warning message about saving the file in a new format, click the OK button.
.dotx files are designed to be saved to a specific location on your computer, which will tell word that there is a template available each time you open a new document.
Turn on Track Changes to show edits made in a document, and use Show Markup to show the types of revisions youd like to display. Select Review Track Changes to turn it on. Make edits in your document and Word captures any edits you make. Select Review Track Changes to turn it off.
