Hi, this is Gary with MacMost.com. On todays episode lets look at using Find and Replace in TextEdit and other apps. Find and Replace is a tool I use all the time and I take it for granted. But a lot of people dont know about it or dont use it. You can find it in most word processing apps. Im going to demonstrate here first in TextEdit. Ive loaded in the Project Gutenberg version of The Call of the Wild. So a very large document here and say I wanted to universally replace something throughout. Well, first Ill start with Find and then Ill look at Find and Replace and then Ill look at Find and Replace All to do it all in one shot. So to find something I would go first to Edit and then Find. Now it is going to be in a slightly different place in different apps. Sometimes there is an entire Find or Search menu all by itself. But here it is in Edit. Ive got Find and some other similar commands. Let me just start with Find here because I can get to everything through there. This w

Replace the found text with new text: Select the Replace checkbox next to the Done button, enter the new text in the second field (right under the search field), then click Replace. To replace all instances of the found text with the new text, click All.
Open Microsoft Word on your Mac. Click or hover over the Edit tab found in the top toolbar. Click or hover over Find from the dropdown menu. Click Replace or hold shift + command + H on your keyboard.
Replace the found text with new text: Select the Replace tickbox next to the Done button, enter the new text in the second field (directly under the search field), then click Replace. To replace all instances of the found text with the new text, click All.
Replace found text Click. Click pop-up menu to the left of the search field, then choose Find Replace. Enter a word or phrase in the first field. Enter the replacement word or phrase in the second field. Use the buttons at the bottom of the Find Replace window to review and change the text matches:
Use text replacements In an app on your Mac, do one of the following: Apply a text replacement to existing text: To use the text replacement in part of a document, select the text, choose Edit Substitutions Show Substitutions, make sure the Text Replacement checkbox is selected, then click Replace in Selection.
To use some of these shortcuts, first choose Apple menu  System Settings (or System Preferences), then click Keyboard. Click Keyboard Shortcuts, select Keyboard on the left, then select the shortcuts setting on the right.
Export text replacements If youre working in an app, you can also choose Edit Substitutions Show Substitutions, then click Text Settings. Click Text Replacements on the right. Select the replacements you want to export. To select them all, choose Edit Select All.
