How to unlock a PDF to remove password security: Open the PDF in Acrobat. Use the Unlock tool: Choose Tools Protect Encrypt Remove Security. Remove Security: The options vary depending on the type of password security attached to the document.
How to remove a password from a PDF using Acrobat Open Acrobat and open the PDF. Press Command-D to see security options, or click File Document Properties. Type in the password. Choose No Password from the dropdown menu where the password is used. Click OK, then OK again. Save the PDF.
If you want to unlock PDF permanently, then go to File Edit Permssions and uncheck the requires password to open document option.
If you have the password and just want to save it as an unlocked . pdf, just open the password protected file (with the password) in Preview, choose Save, and change the name (dont select encrypt). The new . pdf file created should open without a password.
Move the pointer next to the documents name in the title bar, click the arrow that appears, then select or deselect the Locked checkbox. Tip: To lock or unlock a file in the Finder, select the file, choose File Get Info, then select or deselect the Locked checkbox.
Click the File menu and then select Properties. When the Document Properties dialog box appears, go to the Security tab. The document restrictions summary shows which operations are not allowed. To remove all those restrictions, you have to choose No Security from the Security Method drop-down list.
