Performing a factory reset on a Chromebook will erase all previously saved user data, settings, and installed apps. It gives you a completely clean slate, and resets everything to its default settings. Youll want to do this if youre selling it, or even giving it away to a friend or family member.
Free up storage space Delete files you dont need from your Chromebook. Remember that you can move files to Google Drive if you want more space. Clear your browsing data and download history. Uninstall apps youre not using. Remove any extra user accounts from your Chromebook.
Open the Files app on your Chromebook. Navigate to the folder containing the file(s) you want to delete under My Files. Click to select the file, or press and hold Ctrl to select multiple files by clicking on them one at a time. Once selected, either hit Alt + Backspace or right-click and Delete.
Select the apps icon. Open the drive in the Files app. Click to Select files and folders to delete. Click the Trash Can to delete.
Factory reset your Chromebook Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r. Select Restart. Continue. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
Delete your browsing data On your computer, open Chrome . At the top right, click More. Clear browsing data. Choose a time range, like Last hour or All time. Select the types of information you want to remove. Click Clear data.
If your Chromebook is slow or running out of disk space, try the following fixes to free up space: Delete files you dont need from your Chromebook. Clear your browsing data and download history. Uninstall apps youre not using. Remove any extra user accounts from your Chromebook.
All account information and data stored on a ChromeOS device that isnt synced with Google Chrome Sync, such as photos, downloaded files, and saved networks, is deleted during the wipe process.
