Footers are located in the margin area at the bottom of a page. Headers and footers generally contain document information, such as the file name, author, date created, page numbering and the like. This information is repeated on each page and thus enables the reader to easily navigate the document.
Use headers and footers to add a title, date, or page numbers to every page in a document. Select Insert Header or Footer. Select one of the built in designs. Type the text you want in the header or footer.
If you open the document and press Ctrl-A, then Alt-P-S-P to open the Page Layout dialogue and choose the Layout tab and either of the Different odd and even or Different first page boxes is checked or shaded, thats probably part of your issue.
Note: When you customize your header or footer, you can add images, page numbers, date, time, sheet name, file name and path, and more. Go to Insert Header Footer.
The zoom percentage that the document is set to may cause characters to have the top or bottom portion of the screen font cut off. You can adjust the zoom percentage from 75 percent to 100 percent in most cases to correct this visually.
Click VIEW Ruler. Double-click the header or footer area. Press CTRL+A. On the ruler, drag the right indent marker.
Place the mouse cursor in front of the content to be adjusted, and click the Insert Alignment Tab button in the Header/Footer tab. In the popup dialog box, we can set Alignment and Leader. In the following video, we will show you the effects of center margin and center indent.
Click the File tab and then click Info in the left pane. Click Protect Document and choose Restrict Editing from the dropdown (Figure C). Word will return to the document and display the editing options in the Restrict Editing pane. Check the second option and choose No Changes (Read Only) from the dropdown (Figure D).
To make a document un-editable, first, select all the text in the document by pressing Ctrl+A. Once all of the text is highlighted, click Restrict Editing in the Protect group on the Developer tab.
Select Close Header and Footer or double-click anywhere outside of the header or footer area to exit.
