On the Layout tab, under View, click Page Layout. On the Layout tab, under Page Setup, click Header Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers by going to the Header or Footer pop-up menu, and clicking the header or footer that you want.
Headers and footers generally contain document information, such as the file name, author, date created, page numbering and the like. This information is repeated on each page and thus enables the reader to easily navigate the document.
Size and Position of Headers and Footers Footers should be unobtrusive and a font size of around 9pt is adequate. The page number can be a little bigger. The document title should be a little larger at 10pt. There really is no need for the the document title to be any larger, if it is going to appear on every page.
Go to Insert Header or Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers, go to the list of Header or Footer options, and select the header or footer that you want. Or, create your own header or footer by selecting Edit Header or Edit Footer. When youre done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.
To insert a header or footer: Select the Insert tab. Click either the Header or Footer command. From the drop-down menu, select Blank to insert a blank header or footer, or choose one of the built-in options. The Design tab will appear on the Ribbon, and the header or footer will appear in the document.
A header is the top margin of each page, and a footer is the bottom margin of each page. Headers and footers are useful for including material that you want to appear on every page of a document such as your name, the title of the document, or page numbers.
Footer means standardized, formatted text that appears at the bottom of every page of a document.
