Names for bookmarks must follow these rules: Names must begin with a letter of the alphabet. Names can contain only letters, numbers, and the underscore. Names cannot contain spaces or punctuation marks.
Cross-references can dynamically update themselves if the reference contents location changes (for example, a chart moves to a different page). Hyperlinks are graphics or text that link to another file or object.
The rules are that the name must start with a letter (or an underscore, which makes it a hidden bookmark), is limited to 40 characters, and cannot contain any spaces.
The bookmark is created and can be used to jump directly to the selected spot in the document. Bookmark names can be from 1 to 40 characters in length, must begin with a letter, and can only contain numbers, letters, or the underscore character no spaces.
If you use an unacceptable character in the Bookmark name: field, the Add button appears grayed out and unavailable. You must then change the name to continue. To add the bookmark and close the dialog box, click the Add button.
