hey Im going to show you two quick fixes for opening up HTML files in TextEdit this is of course if youre running Mac or Mac OS X operating system by default what happens is text edit doesnt show you your HTML code it actually recognizes the rich attributes and it displays it like it would be on a web page secondarily when you double-click an HTML file it opens it up in Safari this case it did not because I changed it so lets just say I were to double click it its going to open up your HTML file inside of Safari which isnt really helpful if youre trying to edit the HTML so what youre going to do is youre going to right-click your HTML file youre going to hit open with go to other you can hit T on the keyboard go to jump down to TextEdit select always open with and then hit open second thing youre going to do is youre going to go up to TextEdit and go into preferences youre going to click on open and save and underneath when opening a file make sure you select ignore rich
