Try resetting the display preference in your browser to clear up the viewing issue. In Reader or Acrobat, right-click the document window, and choose Page Display Preferences. From the list at left, select Internet. Deselect Display PDF in browser, and then click OK.
Method Two: The Character Map Select the Tools tab. Select Edit PDF in the Tools Center. Select the Search icon in the Windows taskbar. Search for and then select Character Map. Locate your font in the Character Maps drop-down menu. Select the trademark, copyright, or registered symbol in the character menu.
When you see unreadable gibberish symbols as shown in the screenshot below, you are likely dealing with a corrupted PDF file. More specifically, your PDF document is probably missing important information about font character mapping. The reason for this can be that the document was produced incorrectly.
How can I fix this? Go to File Export To MS Office Word. Under Settings, choose Image-based document. Choose Set Languages. In the pop-up box, select the source language and tap OK to set it. Hit OK. Convert the Word file back to PDF by going to convert open file and selecting your word document.
When you see scrambled text, dots, odd characters, or white blocks that look like tofu, it means that the PDF doesnt have the original fonts embedded.
The dots represent that the original font is missing on your computer. Under File / Document Properties, see which fonts the PDF is using.
This is because Chrome is set to use its integrated PDF viewer when files are downloaded by default. You will need to turn this off to make it go away.
Go to EditPreferences. Go to the General tab. Enable the Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer option. Scroll down and click OK.
