Changing Icon in Folders Open the image you want to use as the icon in Preview. Press Cmd + A to select the whole image Press Cmd + C to copy the image. Right click on the folder you would like to change the icon on. Select Get Info Click on the current icon in the top-right of this window.
Right-click the folder and select Properties. Go into the Customize tab at the top of the window, and then choose Change Icon from the bottom. Scroll through the list to find an icon to use. Choose OK on a selection when youve decided.

If youre the curious type, you might want to take a peek at Mac OS Xs system icons. The system icons bundle, found in the /System/Library/CoreServices directory, stores about 140 icons. Start by opening a Terminal window, then change directories to /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemIcons. bundle/Contents/Resources.
Customize the view for a folder On your Mac, click the Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window. Select the folder whose view you want to customize, then choose View Show View Options or press Command-J. Set options to customize the view for the selected folder. Each view has various options.
