First, open the PDF. If Preview isnt your default app, right-click the PDF, then select Open With, followed by Preview. From the menu bar at the top, click File, and then click Export. In the window that pops up, next to Export As, type in a name for the file. Then click the drop-down menu next to Quartz Filter and click Reduce File Size. Click Save.

On your Mac, in a Finder window or on the desktop, do any of the following: Compress a file or folder: Control-click it, then choose Compress from the shortcut menu. If you compress a single item, the compressed file has the name of the original item with the . zip extension.
