Right-click on the item and select Rename, or select the file and press F2 . Type the new name and press Enter or click Rename.
If you change your mind about the new name, press Ctrl + Z to undo your action, and your files will revert back to their original names.
If you need to change the extension as well, select the entire file name and change it. If you renamed the wrong file, or named your file improperly, you can undo the rename. To revert the action, immediately click the menu button in the toolbar and select Undo Rename, or press Ctrl + Z , to restore the former name.
To rename files in Python, use the rename() method of the os module. The parameters of the rename() method are the source address (old name) and the destination address (new name).
There is a short window of opportunity to undo a file action (move, rename, copy type) in Windows Explorer or folder windows using the Edit Menu (or pressing Ctrl Z). You would see undo rename as the option for example.
What Linux Command Lets You Rename Files? Use the move (mv) command on Linux to rename files and folders. The system understands renaming files as moving the file or folder from one name to another, hence why the mv command can be used for renaming purposes, too.

To change back to the original filename, first check its still in the data. Look in the Metadata panel and at the top, change it to EXIF IPTC view so that you see the right fields. The original filename should be listed there.
