Everlaws text redaction makes it easy to redact specific text in documents. You can only use the text redaction tools in the review windows PDF viewer in production mode. To use text redaction, click the toggle text selection mode icon and select some text. Once youve selected text, a menu with three options will pop up. The black redaction marker icon redacts the single instance of the text that you selected. The redaction marker with the green checkmark redacts all instances of that text in the entire document. The number of instances of the selected text will be displayed on the icon. Finally, the magnifying glass icon allows you to search the document for all instances of the selected text. After youve redacted or searched for a selected text, it will appear under custom hits in the hits sidebar. To manage your redactions, click on the name of a query to open redaction options. Redaction is the process of permanently removing visible text and graphics from a document. You use the Redact tools to remove content.
When a document is redacted, it means that certain text contained in a document filed with the Court is concealed from view for privacy protection. This is an example of how a redaction will appear on a document; with the private information concealed: .
With the Redact tool in Acrobat, you can permanently remove text and graphics from your PDF document. First, make a copy of your PDF so you dont accidentally lose something you want to keep. Then, go into Edit Mode and follow these steps to select text or images and redact them.
Go to Tools Redact. Choose Mark for Redaction Text Images. Choose the part you want to redact and select. Once you have selected the part to redact, go to Properties and choose the Redacted Area Fill Color as None (or black to hide the content).
An auto-redaction is a multi-step process that finds matches of a given regular expression, then permanently removes the text and blacks out the displayed region for each match. The end result is a new PDF document with no traces of the text that matched the regular expression.

Then, go into Edit Mode and follow these steps to select text or images and redact them. Select Tools Redact. Use the crosshair to draw rectangles over the text or images you want to permanently remove from the PDF. Optional: If you dont want a black box, select your preferred redaction marks. Click Apply.
