MD Tech here with a tutorial on how to align desktop icons in a grid format, or disable the grid format. By default, Windows places icons in a grid format, but you can disable this feature by right-clicking on the desktop, selecting "View" from the context menu, and then choosing "Align icons to grid." Uncheck this option to disable it and freely place icons on the desktop. This simple tutorial allows for more customizable desktop organization.

Check your Desktop Icon Settings. If icons are missing for Windows system apps like the Recycle Bin or This PC, go to Settings Personalization Themes Desktop icon settings. Check all the boxes, then apply and save your changes. Restart Windows Explorer.
Press Windows key + R to bring up the Run dialog. The User folder will open. Make sure hidden items are visible by clicking the View tab. Open the AppData folder. Open the Local folder. Within the Local folder select the IconCache file and click Delete. Now arrange the desktop icons and restart the computer.
Step 1: Right-click on your desktop. Then, select View. Step 2: Ensure Show desktop icons is ticked. Note: If it isnt, click on it once to ensure it isnt causing issues displaying your desktop icons.
