The quickest way to get your account unlocked is by requesting and entering a security code online. If you havent tried unlocking your account online, we recommend you start there. Tip: If your security code doesnt work, make sure you enter the numbers in the body of the message, and not the numbers in the header.
Sign in to the Advanced security options page of your Microsoft Account. Select Add a new way to sign in or verify then choose how you would like to receive security codes. Note: VOIP numbers cannot be added as a way to sign in or get verification codes. Well send a security code to the new number or email to confirm.
Sign in to an application or service such as Microsoft 365 using your username and password. Microsoft sends a notification to the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device. Open the notification on your phone and select the Verify key. If your company requires a PIN, enter it here.
Add account to Microsoft Authenticator Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone. Tap the + Work or school account. Use your phone to scan the QR square that is on your computer screen. Notes: Your account will be added automatically to the app and will display a six-digit code.
2-Step Authentication Go to the Outlook.com website and log in. Select the gear icon. Go to Options Account details (top of the list). After the account.live.com page has opened, select Security Privacy, go to More Security Settings, scroll down and select Set up two-step verification.
Important: If you already set up your work or school account in the Microsoft Authenticator app, you dont need to do it again. Go to the Security info page using the steps above. Select Add sign-in method. Select Choose a method and then Authenticator app. Select Save.
Go to the Microsoft Services page and select the service you want to authenticate with, such as Outlook or Xbox. Follow the prompts to verify your identity, which may include entering a verification code sent to your email or phone number.
