Time to Live (TTL) is a field on DNS records that controls how long each record is valid and as a result how long it takes for record updates to docHub your end users.
TTL Values An older common TTL value for DNS was 86400 seconds, which is 24 hours. A TTL value of 86400 would mean that, if a DNS record was changed on the authoritative nameserver, DNS servers around the world could still be showing the old value from their cache for up to 24 hours after the change.
To publish TXT records for your Internet domains, you must use the DNS server that connects your domains to the Internet. To do this, simply contact your DNS provider or hosting company or check the web panel that your DNS provider/ domain host provides.
In networking, TTL prevents data packets from moving across the network indefinitely. In applications, TTL manages data caching and boosts performance. TTL is also used in other contexts, such as content delivery network caching and domain name system (DNS) caching.
How to lookup TXT records on Windows Open a command prompt by navigating to Start Type here to search cmd Open. Type nslookup -q=txt example.com and hit [enter] to get the TXT records for example.com . The TXT records are listed below the Non-authoritative answer heading.
Generally, we recommend a TTL of 24 hours (86,400 seconds). However, if you are planning to make DNS changes, you should lower the TTL to 5 minutes (300 seconds) at least 24 hours in advance of making the changes. After the changes are made, increase the TTL back to 24 hours.
With a TTL of 3600 seconds, or 1 hour, that means that as a recursive server learns about example.com, it will store that information about the A-record at example.com for one hour.
This record is used to indicate to mail exchanges which hosts are authorized to send mail for a domain. TXT records should be used instead of the special SPF record type. This record proves ownership of a domain and can be used to associate services such as Microsoft 365 and G-Suite to a specific domain.
Create a new TXT record on the registrars web site. Look for a field labeled Name, Host, or Alias. Enter @. Paste the verification code you copied into the field labeled Value, Answer, Destination, or Server. Enter 1 hour in the TTL field, or you can leave the default value.
Enter the details for your TXT record: Name: The host name for the record. Type @ to put the TXT record on your root domain, or enter a prefix such as mail. Value: The text string for the TXT record. This is usually provided by your SSL, hosting or email provider. TTL: How long the server should cache information.
