To create your own header or footer from scratch, double-click the margin at the top or bottom of your document. This will unlock the header or footer area, so you can add whatever information you want. You can also use the tools on the Design tab, which will appear on the right side of the Ribbon. Select the Tools tab (see figure 1). Select the Edit PDF button in the Tools Center (see figure 2). Select the Header Footer button in the Edit PDF toolbar (see figure 3).
A header is text that is placed at the top of a page, while a footer is placed at the bottom, or foot, of a page. Typically these areas are used for inserting document information, such as the name of the document, the chapter heading, page numbers, creation date and the like.

Add headers and footers, with an open document Open the PDF file to which you want to add the header and footer. Choose Tools Edit PDF. In the secondary toolbar, choose Header Footer Add. As needed, specify the Font and Margin values. Type the text in any of the header and footer text boxes.
Insert a header or footer Go to Insert Header or Footer. Choose the header style you want to use. Add or change text for the header or footer. To eliminate a header--like deleting it on the title page--select it and then check the Different First Page box. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.
Choose the Edit PDF tool, click on More at the far-right of the top toolbar, and choose Background Add. In the Add Background panel, select File for the Source, and pick your letterhead file via the Browse button. Click OK to confirm and apply the selection.
