The first option is to use the pdftk tool. This tool has many capabilities such as merging PDF files, splitting PDF pages into new documents, and even repairing corrupted PDF documents. Its also possible to set passwords for PDF documents using pdftk. There are two types of passwords.
Add a Password to Microsoft Office Click the File menu, select the Info tab, and then select the Protect Document button. Click Encrypt with Password. Enter your password then click OK.
The only thing youll need for this is LibreOffice installed on your desktop or laptop. The password protection feature is built into LibreOffice, so theres nothing extra to and it doesnt matter what operating system you use. Ill demonstrate this with LibreOffice 7.4. 3.2.
Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect. Select whether you want to restrict editing with a password or encrypt the file with a certificate or password. Set password or security method as desired. Click OK and then click Save.

How to secure a PDF file using Word. Open the document you would like to password-protect. Click File. Select Info. Select Protect Document. From the dropdown menu, choose Encrypt with Password. Type a password, then click OK. Type the password again to confirm it, then click OK.
How to create a password-protected PDF with LibreOffice Open LibreOffice Writer. Im going to demonstrate this with the Writer component of LibreOffice. Create your document. Add whatever content you need to the document. Open the Export as PDF window. Add a password. Give the PDF a name.
