If it only happens with Microsoft Word, you should check its default encoding settings. Go to File and select Options. Then, choose Advanced and scroll down until you find the General category. Here, you can change the default file format and Plain Text file encoding.
Double-click the files location on your computers hard drive to open it with Acrobat. In Acrobat, select File from the menu. Select Export to from the File menu. You can choose Microsoft Word from the drop-down menu. Choose Word Document If youd like to rename the file, click Save.
Check default program settings: Right-click on a PDF file on your computer and select Open With from the context menu. Choose Choose another app or Open With Choose default program. Make sure that Microsoft Word is not selected as the default program for opening PDFs.
The only way to prevent a PDF from being converted to Word is to use PDF DRM software. While you can password protect a PDF, once a user has been given the open password they can easily remove any restrictions and do what they want with it.
To open a PDF file without converting it to a Word document, open the file directly wherever its stored (for example, double-click the PDF file in your Documents folder). However, if you want to edit the PDF file, go ahead and open it in Word.
How to add passwords and permissions to PDF files: Open a file in Acrobat and choose Tools Protect. Select whether you want to restrict editing with a password or encrypt the file with a certificate or password. Set password or security method as desired. Click OK and then click Save.
Microsoft Word is likely automatically opening the PDF after saving in the default PDF reader on your machine (which is presumably Brave). When saving as a PDF file, in the Save dialogue of Microsoft Word, untick the box for Open file after publishing.
