How to Remove Known Password from PDF on Mac with Preview? Open the password-protected PDF document with Preview, you will be asked to enter the password. Go to File and choose Print. Save as PDF format. In the Security Options, make sure there is no password added to the file.
A document can have only one password, so if you change the password when you share the document, that becomes the documents only password. Remove a password: Choose File Change Password. Type the old password, then click Remove Password.

If you have the password and just want to save it as an unlocked . pdf, just open the password protected file (with the password) in Preview, choose Save, and change the name (dont select encrypt). The new . pdf file created should open without a password.
